The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed that the remains of all eight victims of Wednesday’s fatal Z-9 military helicopter crash have been successfully transported to Accra and deposited at the 37 Military Hospital ahead of burial arrangements.

The bodies, recovered from the crash site near Sikaman in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, arrived in the capital aboard a Ghana Air Force Casa aircraft on the afternoon of August 6, 2025.

A solemn and dignified reception was held at the Air Force Base in Accra, where the Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Hon. Julius Debrah, led a delegation of government officials, senior military officers, and sympathisers to receive the fallen.

In an official statement signed by Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin, Acting Director General of Public Relations for the GAF, the military expressed its gratitude to the local community of Sikaman and all security agencies involved in the challenging recovery mission.

The statement also conveyed condolences from the Deputy Minister for Defence, Hon. Brogya Genfi, and the Military High Command to the bereaved families, describing the incident as a “difficult national tragedy” that has deeply affected the Armed Forces and the country as a whole.

Details of funeral arrangements for the deceased will be announced in due course.
