Bishop Salifu Amoako and wife arrested after fatal East Legon accident

The Ghana Police Service has arrested Bishop Elisha Salifu Amoako and Mouha Amoako, parents of a 16-year-old boy involved in a fatal accident that claimed two lives at East Legon last Saturday, October 12.

The accident occurred when the suspect, Elrad Salifu Amoako, drove a Jaguar SUV, which rammed into a 4×4 Acura vehicle at high speed.

The crash, which happened at Mensah Wood Street, resulted in both cars catching fire, leaving two of the five occupants in the Acura dead.

The victims have been identified as Justine Agbenu and Maame Dwomoh, both aged 12.

According to police reports, three other individuals from the Acura were rescued. Two of them, treated for minor injuries, have been discharged from the hospital, while the third is still receiving medical care.

Elrad Salifu Amoako and a passenger in the Jaguar were also rescued and remain hospitalized.

The teenager’s parents were taken into custody to assist in the investigation, which is still ongoing. The police emphasize their commitment to ensuring a thorough investigation into the tragic incident.

A delegation led by Inspector-General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, visited the bereaved families to offer condolences and support.

The public is being assured that the case is being handled with the utmost diligence as authorities work to bring closure to the affected families.
