The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has officially assumed a new leadership role as Board Chairman of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).

The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, June 25, marking the formal constitution of a new board tasked with overseeing the strategic operations and development of Ghana’s vital port infrastructure.

Also sworn in was Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, who now joins the GPHA board as a member.

Their appointments are part of broader efforts by government to bolster the governance framework of the GPHA and enhance oversight in the country’s maritime sector.

The newly constituted board is expected to provide strong policy guidance, drive operational improvements, and support key infrastructure expansion initiatives at Ghana’s major ports, including those in Tema and Takoradi.

With Ghana’s ports playing a central role in the nation’s trade and logistics ecosystem, the board’s leadership will be critical in ensuring efficiency, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability in port operations.
