During President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address on Friday, January 3, 2025, his Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Colonel Isaac Amponsah, collapsed in Parliament.

The incident occurred shortly after President Akufo-Addo began delivering his speech, which focused on his administration’s achievements and vision for Ghana’s future. Col. Amponsah, a long-serving member of the President’s security team, suddenly lost consciousness while standing guard in the chamber.

Parliament’s medical team quickly intervened, providing first aid on the scene before transporting Col. Amponsah to a nearby medical facility for further evaluation.

Visibly concerned, President Akufo-Addo paused his address to ensure the ADC received immediate attention. The address resumed shortly after the incident and proceeded without further interruptions.

The State of the Nation Address marks a significant moment in President Akufo-Addo’s tenure, summarizing Ghana’s progress under his leadership and outlining aspirations for the country’s future as his term draws to a close.

Further updates on Col. Amponsah’s condition are expected to be announced later.
