An Accra Circuit Court has granted 19 Democracy Hub protesters bail to the sum of GHc 20,000 with two sureties each. This pegs the number of bailed protesters at 40.
Earlier this week, 21 other protesters were granted bail at the Accra High Court when their lawyers appealed the decision of the Accra Circuit Court to remand them. Among those granted bail is Raphael Williams.
Lawyers for the accused sought to secure a release at the High Court on Tuesday but were met with opposition from the office of the Attorney General which caused the court to adjourn the case to Wednesday.
Their Lawyers however repeated the bail application at the circuit court which was granted by the Judge for 19 of them who were presented as one batch.
Meanwhile, proceedings are underway for another set of 12, whose lawyers are also expected to request for bail.
However, lead convener for the group, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, was once again denied bail.
