Renowned Ghanaian Highlife and Afrobeats artiste, Gregory Bortey Newman, popularly known as King Promise is optimistic about winning the prestigious Artist of the Year award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

During an interview with Berla Mundi and Naa Ashorkor on TV3’s New Day Show, the ‘Terminator‘ hitmaker expressed confidence in his body of work over the past year. He emphasized that his achievements, alongside his team’s efforts, have been significant not only in the current year but also in previous years.

While acknowledging the talents of his fellow nominees in the Artist of the Year category, King Promise made it clear that he believes his contributions stand out.

“Everyone in this category is a worthy competitor and I respect them all, but my work speaks for itself. We’ve put in a lot of effort, and I am here to contribute my share and gladly accept the Artist of the Year award,” he stated.

King Promise also highlighted the growth of Ghana’s music industry and praised the Ghana Music Awards for recognizing musicians’ hard work annually. He acknowledged the platform’s role in celebrating and promoting Ghanaian music.

The TGMA awards night is scheduled for June 1, 2024, at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC). King Promise has received three nominations this year: Artist of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year, and Most Popular Song of the Year.
