Mikel Arteta has put pen to paper on a new long-term Arsenal contract, keeping him at the Emirates until June 2030. The deal gives the Premier League champions a major boost as they look to build on the success of last season.

Arteta joined Arsenal in December 2019 and has helped transform the club from a team searching for direction into a regular force at the top of English football. His previous contract was due to expire at the end of this season.

The 44-year-old guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season. That triumph came after three straight second-place finishes and ended a long wait for league glory.

The Spaniard has also won the FA Cup and three Community Shields. He took Arsenal to only their second Champions League final, where they lost to Paris Saint-Germain on penalties in May.

Now, Arteta wants more.

“It’s a privilege to commit my future to the club and to continue to work with exceptional people who want the best for Arsenal,” he said. “What is so exciting is that this is only the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

That defeat in Europe has added another layer to Arsenal’s ambition. Coming so close to a first Champions League crown has left the club with both belief and unfinished business.

Chief executive Richard Garlick believes Arteta’s long stay could give Arsenal an important edge. He pointed to the continuity created by having a manager who has already built a title-winning team while several rivals have changed coaches.

“We want to dominate football for the next number of years,” Garlick said. “We’re in a really strong position to do that, but we need to keep finding that edge that gives us that advantage.”

The message from Arsenal is clear. Winning the Premier League was not the finish line, but the starting point for something bigger.

With Arteta now tied down until 2030, the man at the heart of Arsenal’s revival will have time to shape the next phase. For supporters who have watched the club climb from uncertainty back to the summit, another chapter is ready to begin.
