World Athletics Championships: Ghana’s 4x100m men’s relay team finishes fifth in final

Ghana’s 4x100m men’s relay team finished fifth in the final at the on-going World Athletics Championships in Oregon.

Despite failing to clinch a medial, the quartet of Sean Safo-Antwi, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Oduro Manu, and Joseph Paul Amoah set a new national record of 38.07s.

On Saturday, Ghana progressed to a fourth relays final in the last three years with a 38.58s run and were hoping to secure a medal when they took to the field in the early hours of Sunday, July 24.

However, the run could only ensure that they finished behind eventual winners Canada, silver-medalists United States, bronze-finishers Great Britain and fourth-placed Jamaica.

This rounds off Ghana’s participation in the World Championships and will be coming home without any medal after Deborah Acquah also missed out on a place in the women’s long jump finals.
