We may increase fares by 40 percent – Transport Operators
The Coalition of Commercial Transport Operators are considering an increment on fares by forty percent.
This follows the reintroduction of the Price Stabilisation and Recovery Levy by the National Petroleum Authority which has caused a hike in fuel prices.
In an interview with MX24 TV, a spokesperson for the Coalition, David Agboado, stated that leadership of the various driver unions will meet on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, to take a final decision on the appropriate margin for the fare increment.
“We will meet on Wednesday to discuss the best way to deal with this because we cannot continue like this. Fuel prices keep increasing and we make losses everyday. We will increase the transport fares, maybe by forty percent.”
