“We Don’t Intend Carrying Weapons To June 4 Demonstration” – Vormawor
Oliver Barker Vormawor of #FixTheCountry Movement, has stated that he and the entire group have no intentions of carrying weapons on their demonstration on June 4.
The group which has been under serious criticism following their letter to the Ghana Police, stating that they will be carrying weapons during their protest, and marching with their own security, is embarking on this protest against the Agyapa deal, E-levy, attack on press freedom, just to name a few.
“I am making it very clear and on record that my clients have no intention to undertake an armed demonstration. They have never stated an intention to arm demonstrators so that point is clear. So it is important to clarify to the police that whatever arms people bear are fully lincensed. I understand the intention of that and I also understand that for so many people the time frame and to draw the Police’s attention to the issue of fully armed demonstrators do not exactly land.” Lawyer Vormawor said.
He went on to say, that his colleagues have explain on various platforms the real intention behind the letter and apologized for the miscommunication.
However, Vormawor made it clear that they have not yet communicated with the police, who have already refused to allow this demonstration to hold due to its nature.
