President of the United States of America, Joe Biden was introduced on Wednesday, February 2, by Dr Edjah Nduom, the son of a Ghanaian politician and businessman, Papa Kwesi Nduom, to relaunch the ‘Cancer Moonshot’ project he oversaw during the Obama administration.  Dr. Ndoum was full of praise for Biden for his dedication to cancer research.

US President Joe Biden announced Wednesday a commitment to reduce cancer death rate by 50% — a new goal for the “moonshot” initiative against the disease that was announced in 2016 when he was vice president.

-“Just as we harnessed science to develop cutting-edge COVID-19 vaccines and treatments, we will bring a sense of urgency in the fight against cancer,” Biden said.

Biden has set a 25-year timeline for achieving that goal.

Dr Edjah Nduom, who intoroduced the president is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurosurgery at Emory University School of Medicine who specializes in brain and spinal cord tumours.

The event was tweeted live by Emory university’s Twitter handle on February 2nd.

According to Dr Nduom, who is a neurosurgeon scientist who is constantly thinking of new ways to treat cancer patients, fight cancer, and sees countless patients each year as a board member of the National Brain Tumour Society, this is “the most exciting moment in the history of our field.”
