UEW to reinstate Avoke, others following court order
The Council of the University of Education, Winneba, says it will comply with the High Court’s order to reinstate former Vice Chancellor, Professor Mawutor Avoke and other former staff.
In July 2017, a legal tussle saw Professor Avoke and three other principal officers of UEW dismissed for alleged financial malfeasance.
Three senior lecturers including Professor Avea Nsoh were later dismissed in 2019 for misconduct and insubordination.
But in an interesting turn of events, the Winneba High Court on February 2, 2022, ordered that reinstatement of Professor Avoke and the other affected former officers of the institution.
On Thursday, February 3, 2022, an emergency meeting held by the Council reached a decision to fully comply with Court’s order.
The meeting also had in attendance the Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
