Tipper truck driver knocks down two children in Northern Region

Two children, aged five and one, lost their lives after a tipper truck knocked them down on the morning of Friday. January 28. 2022 at Kalpohin Estate in the Sagnarigu Municipality, Northern Region.

The deceased were being sent to school on a motorbike by their aunt when the truck with registration number, NR-153-20 run into them.

According to eyewitnesses, a cyclist crossed the motorcycle conveying the children to school. In an attempt to swerve, the latter abruptly applied the brakes resulting in the motorcycle falling together with the motorcyclist, the children and their aunt. An oncoming tipper truck subsequently run over them.

The driver reportedly abandoned the truck and bolted.

Police are currently investigating the matter and on a manhunt for the driver and another occupant of the truck.
