“The two, two cedis is enough” – Interior Minister to police
The Minister for Interior, Ambrose Dery has cautioned officials of the Ghana Police Service to stop collecting money from commercial drivers.
During a working visit to the Western North Region, the Minister said it has come to his attention how some police personnel forcefully collect money from some drivers and let them off the hook instead of duly enforcing laws.
Mr. Dery further warned that police officers found culpable will be mercilessly dealt with.
“We must put an end to that disgusting conduct as the Ghana Police Service is among the professions which are highly respected on the global map. The two, two cedis you have taken is enough,” he said.
The minister was addressing personnel at the Western North Regional Police Headquarters at Sehwi Wiawso as part of his tour of the region.
Meanwhile, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Ernest Akrasi Mensah, in his address noted that in the absence of adequate resources, his outfit has duly executed its duties and elevated the image of the Service.
