“The NDC Government ,With The Votes Of The People Of Ghana In 2025 Will Repeal The E-levy Act.” -John Mahama
John Mahama has described the E-levy as a distortionary and burdensome tax which only forces Ghanaians to pay more while suffering. In a speech at the ‘Ghana At A Crossroads’ on Monday the 2 of May 2022, he said “unfortunately in the face f this self-inflicted economic catastrophe, the government against all sound advice has decided to introduce the E-levy that heaps more suffering on Ghanaians.”
He went on to assure, that the New Democratic Congress (NDC) will repeal the E-levy act if NDC is voted into power come 2025. “The New Democratic Congress (NDC) government ,God willing, with the votes of the sovereign people of Ghana, in 2025 will repeal the E-levy act.”
He went on to talk about how wasteful the Akuffo-Addo government has been despite all the numerous taxings put in place to ‘solve’ all these problems.
“The people of Ghana cannot be called upon to pay more taxes only for the accruing money belonging to the people of Ghana, to be dubiously and wastefully shared among family and friends through various fraudulent procurement practices” ,he added.
The E-levy commennced on Sunday 1st of May,2022 and a rate of 1.5% is placed on every GHC 100 of electronic transaction. To every GHC100,comes a 1.5% E-levy charge.
