Tema Police launch investigations into killing of 77 year old man
The Tema Regional Police Command has begun investigations into incidents that led to the death of a 77-year-old man at Miotso near Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.
The body of the deceased, Daniel Akwetey Awulley alias Igwe, was found in his bedroom on Wednesday 3rd February, 2022, with gunshot wounds to his chest and thigh.
A press release by the Police stated that “Prampram police patrols on Tuesday, February 2, 2022, at about 2.10 am while on night duty patrols, accosted two gentlemen, who upon interrogations informed police that they had information to the effect that, their 77-year-old father had been shot and killed at his residence in Miotso.”
“The patrol team accompanied them to the address of their father and found that the main door to the two-bedroom house had been broken into with a six-inch block which the possible assailants used to gain entry into the building,” the statement added.
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Tema General Hospital Morgue for autopsy and preservation.
The Police is appealing to members of the public to volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
Meanwhile, in an interview with MX24NEWS, a relative of the deceased linked the killing to ongoing land disputes in the area.
