Prior to the announcement, Hearts earlier in the day confirmed that Barnieh had extended his contract with the club after his old contract expired last year in December.
“Daniel Afriyie is a dynamic and versatile attacking player who has a courageous style of play,” Head of Sport at FC Zurich, Marinko Jurendic said after the Ghanaian put pen to paper.
“He should take the next step in our development at FCZ and give our game further opportunities forward.”
Afriyie Barnieh made 69 appearances for Hearts of Oak, scored 13 goals and registered four assists in all competitions.
