Speaker Directs Defence And Interior Committee To Probe Islamic SHS Incident
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has instructed the Defence and Interior Committee to investigate the incident which happened at the Islamic SHS in Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.
This came in after the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, asked that parliament investigates the incident which resulted in the unconsciousness 38 students, and hospitalisation of over 20 students of Islamic SHS, as a result of the police firing tear-gas, firing warning shots and pepper-spraying them during a road protest, on the Abrepo Junction-Barekese road.
The Speaker also directed the committee to do well to pay working visit to the school and keep the house informed of any findings gathered.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Ashanti Regional Commander, DCOP Kwasi Akomeah Apraku, has ben removed from office, and two other senior officers have been interdicted.
