Set up governing board for Nat’l Blood Service – Laboratory Scientists
The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists (GAMLS) is demanding the immediate set up and commissioning of a governing board for the National Blood Service.
The demand, if heeded will give life to the National Blood Service Act (ACT 1042).
According to the Association, since the law was enacted almost two years ago, matters relating to blood transfusion services have greatly improved across the country. Thus, when the board is commissioned, it will bite harder and will help curb unscrupulous acts like unlawful blood sale among others.
GAMLS insists, “the time to act is now,” and has called on the Minister of Health to heed its demands with urgency.
