Serbian side FK Spartak Subotica sign Ghana midfielder Edmund Addo

Serbian club FK Spartak Subotica have completed the signing of Ghana midfielder Edmund Addo in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old joins the club on a permanent deal from Sheriff Tiraspol.

Addo was closing in on a move to Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade last summer but the deal fell through.

“I was received extremely well by everyone at the club and I’m glad to be here,” he said after putting pen to paper.

“I haven’t had a chance to train with the boys yet, but I’ve watched highlights from the last few games online. I think that Spartak has quality footballers, I came to help them.

“I know what the club’s ambitions are, I hope we will create a good atmosphere and achieve our goals together.”

Addo racked up 33 appearances for FC Sheriff across all competitions, scoring one goal and played a key role in helping the team to win the Moldovan Super Liga championship and the Moldovan Cup.

The highly-rated midfielder made his debut for Ghana on 11 November 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia, coming off the bench to feature and has since made seven appearances for the senior national team.

He was part of the final 28-man squad named for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
