The Ashanti Regional Police Command is investigating the death of Francis Kofi Okesu, Chief Executive of the Krachi East Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region.
The MCE, according to police sources was found dead at the Harbed House Hotel room in Ashanti Regional Capital, Kumasi, on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
Mr Okesu’s body was found in a “supine position in bed naked with his left arm hanging beside the bed,” sources say.
It is unclear for what purpose the MCE was in the hotel room but he is reported to have checked into the hotel with his driver on Friday, September 2.
A statement by the police noted that “investigations have so far established that Hon. Francis Kofi Okesu accompanied by his driver checked in, Kumasi on 2nd September, 2022. The MCE was however not seen on 4th September, 2022 and all efforts made by both his driver and the hotel authority to reach him on his cellphone proved unsuccessful.”
The body of the deceased MCE has been deposited at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue “for preservation and autopsy while investigation continues” the police added.
Mr Kofi Okesu becomes the second MCE to have died since July 2022 following death of Alfred Amoah who was the Chief Executive of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Municipality.
