Over 300 Pigs Destroyed Due To African Swine Flu Infection

Over 300 farms were visited in the Weija Gbawe District and over one hundred pigs infected with the African swine flu have been destroyed to prevent further spread.

Speaking at a forum organized by the municipality to educate livestock farmers on methods in protecting their animals, the MCE for the area, Patrick Kumor stated that there was the vaccination of over 3000 poultry birds throughout the municipality, as part of the safety measures being laid out.

He then cautioned farmers to desist from selling infected pork on the market.

Farmers were also advices to desist from visiting other farms as that has the potential of spreading the flu.
