NPP Not Perturbed By So-called “Firebrand” Leaders Of NDC – Nana Obiri Boahen
After a successful National Delegates Congress of the opposition NDC to elect their national executives for the next four years, former Deputy General Secretary of NPP, Nana Obiri Boahen says the party is not threatened by the crop of new leaders of their rivals.
According to Nana Obiri Boahen, despite the branding of the new executives of the NDC as firebrand and militant personalities, the ruling NPP is not scared and hence focused on retaining power in 2024 general elections.
The NPP bigwig and a staunch advocate of Dr.Mahamudu Bawumia made these claims on Monday, December 19, 2022 when he was speaking on Spotlight on MX 24 TV after the internal elections of the NDC.
To him, there is nothing special about the congress and the new leaders since its just natural that political parties elect leaders every four years to man the affairs of the party.
“There is nothing new. NDC has selected their leaders to man affairs of the party for the next four years. It’s just natural so you don’t need to be raising eyebrows about some of these things,” Nana Obiri Boahen indicated.
Commenting on the perceived pressure brought on the NPP by the new leaders of the NDC, Nana Obiri Boahen stressed that the party is not scared or worried about anything.
He added that the battle ahead is a contest of ideas and not militancy. To him, he is confident that the ideas and achievements of the NPP will win them 2024 general elections irrespective of the leadership of the NDC.
Responding to the question if the NPP feel threatened, Nana Obiri Boahen noted that “not at all. I have been active participant of partisan politics in this country from 1992 till today. As we speak now, I am the President for the Global Movement for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. I can assure you believe you me, some of us are not scared at all. I am not scared and I am not worried. We are going to beat them in 2024. Mark my words and read my lips.”
