In the Central Region, the Weija-Gbawe assembly has heeded the President’s charge to pull down structures on waterways in the area.

The Weija-Gbawe Municipal Assembly on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, razed down dozens of structures sitting atop waterways as part of efforts to check the many flooding issues in the area.

The team was led by the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Mr Patrick Kumor stated emphatically that no structure which poses threat of causing flood will nit be spared in both phases of the demolishing exercise. According to him, persons who have been affected were given ample time to move, thus, the reason why no one is getting spared in the exercise.

“...we’ve given them notice for almost over 6 months, even after there President’s directives. Some structure have already been marked. Where we visited this very morning, some of them have been marked over a year. We keep giving them that remainder to move but as human as we are, they’ll still not barge, until you to use force to do that.” he said in an interview with Citi News.

Mr Kumor went on to say, that he will not spare municipal executive staff who are out of order with their duties. He said, he will look in0-house to make sure the taskforce is up to the task. He also sent out a warning to his staff to make sure they do their work and do it diligently.
