Major Shake-Up In NDC Leadership In Parliament As Party Embarks On Reshuffle
To the dismay of the majority of Ghanaians, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has conducted a reshuffle in the minority leadership in parliament.
According to a letter by the party addressed to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Bagbin cited by mx24online, the well-known leadership of the minority has been changed.
Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Member of Parliament for Ajumako Enyian Essiam in the Central Region and ranking member of the Finance Committee, will take over from Hon. Haruna Iddrisu as Minority Leader pending the endorsement of the Speaker.
Deputy Minority leader role which was held by James Klutse Avedzi has been handed over to the Ellembelle MP, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Boah.
On the Whip and Deputy Whip roles, Kwame Agbodza becomes the Chief Whip for the opposition side and will be deputised by Banda MP, Ahmed Ibrahim and Ada legislator, Comfort Doyo Ghansah respectively.
“The new leadership would be charged to recommend consequential changes in the Ranking membership to Headquarters of the party for approval,” the party statement added.
Some NDC legislators who are unhappy with the situation are already describing the development as a “coup d’etat”.
