Major roads in Accra closed for ECOWAS Summit

The Accra Regional Police Command has announced the temporary closure of some major roads in  Accra today, February 3, 2022.

The closure, according to the police is due to the Extraordinary Summit of ECOWAS Heads of State being held at the Kempinski Gold Coast Hotel.

Key among the issues tabled for discussion is to the political unrest in Burkina Faso and the “attempted coup” in Guinea.

The roads affected by the closure include the Jubilee Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport to Liberation at Opeibia, Liberation road from airport traffic light through to Independence Avenue and Kempinski Hotel to National Theatre on the Independence Avenue through Ako Adjei

The roads will be re-opened immediately after the Summit.

Motor Traffic Police Officers have however been stationed at vantage points to offer assistance to motorists.
