KNUST wins maiden edition of Ghana Inter-University Liberty and Economics Competition

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology (KNUST) Chapter of ACEYE Scholars Club emerged winners of the maiden edition of Ghana Inter-University Liberty and Economics Competition (GILEC).

The competition was organized by the Africa Centre for Entrepreneurship and Youth Empowerment (ACEYE) on Sunday, October 30, 2022 to climax the ACEYE Scholars Club’s training program which seeks to imbibe in the young scholars the ideals of free market philosophy and economics.

The clubs on four university campuses across the country; namely University of Ghana, KNUST, UMaT and GIJ participated in the competition.

The competition required that each club presents a pitch on how Ghana can solve some of the pressing economic challenges leveraging on the skills and knowledge gained from the ACEYE Scholars Club training program.

There was also a debate session where the scholars presented scholarly arguments either for or against very controversial economic situations facing Ghana presently. The scholars also engaged in panel discussions on various topics to demonstrate their knowledge in the philosophy of Free Market and Economics.

At the end of the competition, KNUST emerged winners after presenting a pitch on how Ghana can shift from the current theoretical learning in the country’s educational system to a more practical one.

KNUST was closely followed by the Ghana Institute of Journalism, UMaT and UG in that order who presented on pitches on how to deal with youth unemployment, the menace of galamsey and youth unemployment respectively.

The winners walked away with a cash prize of GHS10,000.
