Know Who you are before you Join a record label – Ladipoe advises Artistes

Nigerian musician Ladipo Eso popularly known in the showbiz space as Ladipoe has cautioned artistes who wants to get signed on a record label to identify themselves and what they want before getting signed.

The Mavin Records signee speaking with Jason El A on Mx24 Tv’s entertainment show, Mx Live on Friday disclosed that before joining the record label, he had to change his mind set about work ethics in order to adapt to working with a record label as big as Mavin Records.

“I think it’s two things for me was the mindset of a what it means to be almost like a professional recording artiste and then the work ethics. So first and foremost what I mean by adapt is I came in as an independent artiste, I’ve been doing my thing putting out music…you feel like once you signed to a record label there’s a misunderstanding that okay yes, it’s over the label can carry the rest we’re good but no like that indie mentality is what you even need to succeed on the label cause you need to be a self-starter self-motivated…and I had to shift that mindset” he said.

The ‘Feeling’ crooner further added that the likes of Tiwa Savage empowered him to keep working hard regardless and for him, being a big artiste does not mean less work.

“ I would say first and foremost know the kind of artiste you are and decide if what platform is best for you. Is it a label, is it a distribution deal? Know who you are and what you need first, if you decide that it’s a label , it’s now about picking people; my biggest advice is pick a partner that is going to put in as much risk and time as you… if you’re not doing that you’re not risking”

Ladipoe  joined The Mavins in 2017 and continues to take his craft a step further with his fascinating rap style allowing him to top charts and gain global recognition. He captured fans attention with the hit song ‘Know You’ featuring Simi in 2020 and is currently giving his fans some “Big Energy”.
