Government Launches E-Pharmacy Platform
Government has launched an Electronic Pharmacy Platform that will digitise the operations of pharmacies across the country.
This is the latest feat chalked in government’s digitalisation drive .
The E-Pharmacy platform will be a hub for every pharmacy in the country and will facilitate easy access to medication. Thus, eliminating the hustle of having “to roam about in search of medication”
Speaking at the launch of the digitial platform, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia said, the E-Pharmacy will “promote competitive pricing, reduce the rate of drug abuse and check the sale of fake drugs to unsuspecting members of the public.”
Further describing the move as a potential “game changer.”
“The innovation of improving pharmacy access to our people can be a game changer in safeguarding the future of our youth, in ensuring national and responsible access to medication on a scale we have not yet achieved.”
Dr. Bawumia is also certain that the platform will reduce the pharmacist to patient ratio while improving confidentiality between both parties.
Accessibility of the platform is through a mobile phone and universal QR Code service. Patrons will have to enter their prescriptions into the digital platform, select the preferred pharmacy, make payment and have the drugs delivered to their doorstep.
The E-Pharmacy platform was developed in collaboration with the Pharmacy Council Ghana.
