Ghana and Bournemouth striker Antoine Semenyo undergoes successful surgery
Ghana striker striker Antoine Semenyo has undergone a successful surgery to a shin injury, AFC Bournemouth head coach Gary O’Neil has confirmed.
Semenyo, who joined the Cherries from Bristol City in January, has been ruled out for the rest of the season.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference today, O’Neil said he hoped the frontman would be ready to return in pre-season.
The 23-year-old has featured 11 times in the Premier League this season and netted his maiden top-flight goal in the Cherries’ 4-1 win over Leeds last month.
“Antoine has had surgery so he will be out until next season,” O’Neil told the media.
“We’re hopeful he gets back and can have a decent little spell with the team before the season starts but it will depend on how quickly he recovers.
“Everything went well and we’re hoping he has a speedy recover because he can be a big help again for us next season.”
Semenyo will miss Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Madagascar on June 18.
