FIFA U-17 WWCQ: Black Maidens on brink of qualification after beating Morocco
Black Maidens of Ghana are on the brink of progressing to the 2022 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India following a 2-0 win over Morocco in the first leg of the final qualification.
Ghana relied on goals from Stella Nyamekye and Nancy Amoh to secure a comfortable lead over the Moroccans at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Nyamekye handed the West Africans a first-half lead after just 18 minutes of action before Nancy Amoh struck in the 65th minute to ensure the Ghanaians inched closer to a qualification ticket.
The first leg 2-0 result puts Baba Nuhu’s side in the driving seat ahead of the second leg showdown with the North Africans at the Prince Moulay Al Hassan Stadium in Rabat on June 4, 2022.
Ghana are one game away from a record 7th appearance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Maidens knocked out Guinea to reach final round of the U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers after a 7-0 triumph in the second leg at the Cape Coast stadium to progress on a 10-1 aggregate.
