EXCLUSIVE: Semra Hunter previews 2022/23 LaLiga season

Host of LaLiga TV Semra Hunter expects 2022/23 LaLiga season to be as competitive as ever with four teams vying for the title next season.

LaLiga is back this Friday with Osasuna hosting Sevilla while the rest of the teams will play their first games over the weekend.

After cruising to last season’s title by 13 points, Real Madrid head into the 2022/23 campaign with high hopes of claiming consecutive league crowns for the first time since 2008, however, Barcelona will attempt to wrest the trophy from the capital with some new marquee players that seems to have brought back hope to their fans.

“I think it will be just competitive as well. I think you hit the nail right on the head. A lot of clubs were going through a tricky situation,” Semra Hunter told MX24TV.

“In the case of Barcelona, massive re-build for so many different reasons. Atletico Madrid had a very off season but it was down to specifically Diego Simeone opening up at end of the last season and admitting that he overthought things.

“He made himself dizzy, all of the changes that he was making constantly before games, during games, the system, the formation, the players and it left the players without really clear ideas as to what to do. He went through an identity crisis for the first time in years since he’s been at the club as a manager. I don’t think he will be making that mistake again next season.

She added, “Sevilla were playing with injuries more than anybody else last season for whatever reason.”

“They also lost a lot of players to the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) which really affected them massively as they were key players for them. Sevilla had a very off colour season and despite that they were still pushing Real Madrid for most of the campaigns so suspect that they will improve for next season.

“I think it will be a much more competitive campaign all around and it will be interesting to see how Real Betis cope with having an European competition with Real Sociedad and Villareal but I still think that it’s still going to be just as entertaining, just as exciting as well.”

“There is all source of reasons to watch LaLiga and to watch of all source of different players, managers and so on and so I would expect it to be just competitive if not more.”
