COVID-19: Ghana’s active cases cross 12,000

Ghana current active COVID-19 case count has reached 12,422 following the recording of 1,067 new cases.

Twenty-three (23) of the new cases are severe while four others are in critical condition.

This is according to the latest update by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The Service has attributed the spike in cases to the numerous activities during the festive season.

Cumulatively, Ghana has confirmed 146,119 cases with 1,306 deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in March 2020.

132,391 persons have since recovered.

The Greater Accra Region continues to top the charts with the highest infections, followed by Ashanti Region.

Government hopes to vaccinate 20 million Ghanaians by the first quarter of 2022.
