Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey leaves Ghana camp due to injury; flies to London for further assessment

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey has been granted permission to travel back to London for further assessment after picking up a suspected knee injury on Friday minutes before the pre-World Cup friendly against Brazil.

The 29-year-old was set to start for the Black Stars but just a few minutes before kick-off, was forced to withdraw after picking up a knock.

Partey was withdrawn as a precautionary measure and replaced by RCD Mallorca midfielder Baba Idrissu.

Ghana suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat to the five-time champions as Neymar and Richarlison shined in a blistering first half for Tite’s side.

Brazil scored three first half goals through Marquinhos and Richarlison within 28 minutes as Black Stars struggled to cope with the pace and tempo of the game.

The Black Stars will play Nicaragua on Tuesday, September 27 after losing 3-0 to Brazil at Oceane in Le Harve on Friday night.
