The American President, Joe Biden, alongside 962 leading Americans, have been banned from entering Russia.
According to Al Jazeerah, other recognizable names on the list included Facebook CEO, Mark Zukerberg, American actor, Morgan Freeman, Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken and head of the Pentagon, Lloyd Austin.
The list released on Saturday by the Russia Foreign Ministry, which is said to be mainly symbolic comes in the light of the volatile relations between Russia and the West after Moscow invaded Ukraine in February. Russia’s move to bar the American individuals from entering the European country was also in retaliation for Washington announcing similar sanctions.
In the case of Morgan Freeman, Russian authorities alleged that Morgan, 84, in 2017 recorded a video where he accused Moscow of scheming against the United States.
The Russian Foreign Ministry also announced travel bans for 26 other notable Canadians four days ago, after Canada introduced a bill that seeks to ban President Vladimir Putin and about 1000 other Russian officials and military officials from entering the country, according to Al Jazeerah. Among them includes the wife of the Prime Minister, Sophie Trudeau.
