Akufo-Addo accepts Alan Kyerematen’s resignation; Ken Ofori-Atta to act as caretaker Trade Minister
President Akufo-Addo has appointed Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as the caretaker Minister of Trade & Industry following the resignation of the substantive Minister, Alan Kyerematen.
A statement from the Presidency, Friday, January 6 indicated that the President has accepted the resignation of Alan Kyerematen.
The Finance Minister will act in his stead until a substantive Minister is appointed.
The Trades Minister who has been nursing a presidential ambition was reported to have tended in his resignation on Thursday, reportedly to pursue his ambition towards the 2024 elections.
But in the statement confirming the resignation, the Presidency gave no reason for the Minister’s sudden stand down.
Excerpts of the statement reads: “The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Friday, 6th January 2023, accepted the resignation from office of Mr Alan Kyerematen as Minister for Trade and Industry. This was after Mr Kyerematen, on Thursday, 5th January, informed the President personally of his decision to resign, and subsequently submitted his letter of resignation to him.”
President Akufo-Addo further thanked Mr Kyerematen for his services to his government and to the country.
