28 districts across 7 regions to be affected by ongoing Bagre Dam spillage – NADMO

At least twenty-eight districts across the country will be affected by the ongoing spillage of Burkina Faso’s Bagre Dam, NADMO has said.

The Natural Disaster Management Organization says the affected districts cut across seven regions in the country namely Oti, Eastern, Savannah, North East, Upper East, Northern and Upper West.

The listed districts include Kwahu Afram Plains North, Kwahu Afram Plains South, East and West Gonja, Lawra, Chereponi and Nandon among others.

In a statement, NADMO said “the consequences of this spillage downstream in Ghana is the possible overflow of the banks of the White and Black Volta.”

The annual spillage is part of efforts to prevent destruction of the dam.
