2022 in Review: Hajia 4Real arrested in UK

Whether highlighted in conversational points for good or bad, 2022 brought with it some of entertainment’s most memorable moments.  As 2022 draws to a close, Mx24 Online reflects on some of the years most talked about moments, which to some degree shaped the entertainment and lifestyle landscape in Ghana.

November certainly came with its bag of shocks. Socialite and musician Hajia 4Real (Mona Fiaz Montrage) sent social media into a frenzy following news that she was arrested over an alleged fraud case in the UK. Hajia 4Real left for the UK in the company of other Ghanaian Musicians for the annual Ghana Music Awards UK.

As the news made rounds on social media, reports indicated that the “Badder Than” singer was picked up by police in connection with an $8 million fraud case. Blogger Gh Hyper alluded to the fraud being perpetrated with the use of the musician’s pictures only.

Other news publications suggest she was arrested because she made some private purchases with a payment system that had been flagged. Hajia 4Real was apprehended after making another payment using the same platform. Hence, she was found guilty of money laundering, and now her case has become a court issue in the UK.

Hajia 4Real has since been released from custody. In a short video uploaded onto her Instagram page, the musician said she was happy to be back after her run-in with UK authorities. She also expressed her gratitude to her fans and well-meaning Ghanaians for showing support for her amidst the brouhaha. She is however yet to comment on her arrest.
