2022 In Review: Dancegod Lloyd Parts Ways With DWP

Whether highlighted in conversational points for good or bad, 2022 brought with it some of entertainment’s most memorable moments.  As 2022 draws to a close, Mx24 Online reflects on some of the years most talked about moments, which to some degree shaped the entertainment and lifestyle landscape in Ghana.

The era of dance as a profession for creatively received new vigor with the establishment of the Dance With a Purpose academy. Its lead dancer, Dancegod Lloyd was touted as the poster boy of the Academy, leading many viral dance challenges and appearing on several media interview platforms representing the academy.

Rumors began circulating in September that Dancegod Lloyd had parted ways with the academy due to issues the dancer had with other partners of the academy. His absence on the Global Citizen Festival when dancers of the academy served as backup for American Singer Usher gave more fire to the rumors.

A founder of the Academy, Nicholas Botchway attributed his absence to Dancegod Lloyd being engaged in an equally important assignment in Nigeria. However, the dancer refuted this claim, taking to his Tiktok page. In response to a fan who inquired about his absence, Dancegod Lloyd said:

“don’t let them lie to you. I have done what I can do and the rest is up to them. People are ungrateful and they will always be ungrateful. Remember that.”

Quables, the former manager of Dancegod Lloyd and also manager of the DWP Academy took to Twitter to respond to the rumors. In a series of tweets he confirmed the Dancer’s exit from the academy and wished him well with his new manager.
