2022/23 GPL: Aduana Stars stun Hearts of Oak in Accra, Asante Kotoko held by Nsoatreman FC
League leaders Aduana Stars scored two second half goals to beat Hearts of Oak 2-0 on match week 18 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports stadium.
Isaac Mintah scored a brace in-between 18 minutes to condemn the Phobians to their second home loss in six weeks.
The striker netted the opener in the 47th minute and added to the second goal inside 64th minutes to propel the League leaders to another vital away win.
Hearts of Oak needed a win to close the gap on the leaders but were absolutely woeful in front of goal as the Dormaa lads took full advantage in the second half.
Aduana Stars have now moved to 35 points – five points richer than second placed Bechem United and seven points more than third placed Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak who are in fourth place.
At Sameraboi, FC Samartex thrashed RTU 3-0 at the Nsenkyire Sport Arena. Emmanuel Keyekeh scored the opener at the death of half time to give the host a well-deserved lead.
Keyekeh doubled their advantage in the 60th minute before Isaac Opoku Agyemang scored in stoppage time to make it three nil for the home side.
Hafiz Konkoni scored two second half goals for Bechem United as they romped to a 3-1 win over Great Olympics at Fosu Gyeabuor Park.
Abdul Karim opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Konkoni added to the tally in the 52nd and 78th minutes of the game.
Agyenim Boateng Mensah scored the only goal in the 58th minute as Dreams FC pip Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 at the theatre of Dreams – Dawu.
Berekum Chelsea added to the woes of King Faisal as they beat the host 1-0 at the Kwame Kyei Sports complex. Mizack Afriyie netted in the 7th minute to give the visitors a slim win.
Isaac Mensah converted a penalty in the 79th minute to give Tamale City a 1-0 win against Karela United at the Aliu Mahama stadium.
On Saturday, Samari Salifu scored in stoppage time as Accra Lions drew 1-1 against Kotoku Royals. Andy Kumi gave the host a lead inside 33 minutes before Samari’s late equalizer.
Meanwhile, defending champions Asante Kotoko drew 0-0 with new boys Nsoatreman FC.
