2022/23 GPL: Aduana Stars back to winning ways, Hearts of Oak held by Bibiani Gold Stars – Match Week 21 Review

Aduana Stars opened a five-point lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League table following a 1-0 win against Medeama SC at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park at Dormaa Sunday.

The two-time champions started the second round of the season with an impressive 2-0 win over Hearts of Oak. But a draw with King Faisal and defeat to FC Samartex reduced the point gap at the top to two.

After an explosive start to the game at Dormaa, Kelvin Obeng opened the scoring for Aduana in the 35th minute after latching on to Elvis Opoku’s corner kick.

The visitors committed men forward in search of an equalizer but Aduana FC were resolute at the back as they held o to win 1-0.

Aduana now lead the Premier League table with 39 points – five points above second-placed Accra Lions and six points ahead of Bechem United.

Elsewhere, the Tamale derby failed to produce a winner as Real Tamale United drew 0-0 with Tamale City at Aliu Mahama Stadium.

Former champions Berekum Chelsea recorded a 1-0 win against Legon Cities at Golden City Park.

Fravien Kwasi Kongoza scored the only goal of the match inside 33 minutes to give the Blues all the spoils as Legon Cities suffered their third loss in five games.

Great Olympics fired blank against FC Samartex 1996 at Accra Sports stadium. The Dade Boys have yet to win a match since their 1-0 win against rivals Hearts of Oak on match week 19.

Earlier on Saturday, Hearts of Oak scored late to snatch a point against Bibiani Gold Stars.

The Miners scored through Evans Owusu in the 4th minute but Isaac Mensah broke their hearts with a stoppage time equalizer.
