2021/22 GPL: Hearts of Oak file protest against referee Kenney Padi
Defending Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak have filed a protest against referee Kenney Padi for his poor performance during the match week 24 encounter against Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
Padi grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons following his decision to award the Porcupine Warriors a penalty at the Baba Yara Stadium.
Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Aziz was adjudged to have fouled Fabio Gama in the box inside 13 minutes of the game.
Cameroonian striker Franck Mbella Etouga stepped up to take the resulting spot kick as he sent goalkeeper Richmond Ayi the wrong way, taking his season tally to 16 goals.
The Phobians have urged the Review Committee to take a second look at the “controversial penalty” awarded against them in the Ghana Premier League.
The win strengthened Kotoko’s lead at the top of the table to eight points with 12 matches to go, while Hearts of Oak drop to 6th on the standings with 36 points.
