Akufo-Addo Terminates Appointment With Juliana Cudjoe

President Akufo-Addo has revoked the appointment of a member of the school feeding caterers association, who was an appointee with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly.

Juliana Cudjoe serves as the President of the School Feeding Caterers’ Association and has been very vocal on the need for government to increase the school feeding grant.

A letter sighted by mx24 and signed by Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey stated, “His Excellency the President, acting under section 10, sub-section 9a of the local governance amendment act, 2017 (act 940) has revoked your appointment as a government appointee with the Accra Metropolitan Assembly with immediate effect. You therefore cease to be a member of Accra Metropolitan Assembly accordingly.”

The minister failed to give reasons for the revocation of Juliana Cudjoe’s appointment but in an off-record conversation with MX24 News, she indicated that her appointment was revoked because of her activeness in demanding payment for caterers.

Meanwhile, the National Coordinator for the School Feeding Programme, Gertrude Quashigah says caterers in 12 regions have been paid in full for 2021. She however noted that, some associations formed by caterers are not recognized by the secretariat.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin also during a visit to the National Food Buffer Stock Company and the School feeding secretariat urged charitable organizations and stakeholders to come on board and contribute to the success of the school feeding programme.
