Speaker Tasks Finance And Health Committees To Probe All Covid-19 Expenses

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has tasked the Finance and Health committees of the House to probe all expenses related to curtailing the COVID-19 pandemic.

The directive follows seeming discrepancies in the receipt and payment of COVID-19 funds as accounted for by the Finance Minister, Hon Ken Ofori-Atta, before the house earlier today and other accounts by some government officials, including the President.

The Minority had earlier proposed the setting up of an ad-hoc committee to probe the matter but the Speaker however upheld arguments by the Majority that there are existing parliamentary committees empowered to undertake such an exercise.
